Gilbert Davison

Executive Director

Gilbert Davison is a native Minnesotan with over 35 years of experience in the music, business,and entertainment industries. Mr. Davison’s career began in 1984 when, as a student of computer programming and business, he was hired by PRN Productions to provide personal security for various entertainers, clients, and company executives during the yearlong Purple Rain tour throughout the United States.

After this engagement, Mr. Davison was promoted to Director of Security of PRN Productions, parent company of Paisley Park Studios, based in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Between the years of 1985-1987, Mr. Davison’s exposure to the entertainment field expanded beyond personal security and concert performances into film, video, music business management, music promotion, film promotion, public relations management, and entertainment development.

From 1988-1989, Mr. Davison’s responsibilities increased to aspects of company operations, which included film production, video production, concert touring, audio recording production, and television production. Along with these various duties, Mr. Davison also served as liaison for Prince, then CEO of Paisley Park Enterprises.

In November of 1989 Mr. Davison was asked to assume full responsibility for all business aspects of Paisley Park Enterprises and was named President of the company (1989-1995). During Mr. Davison’s leadership, Paisley Park Enterprises experienced some of its most profitable and successful years, making headlines in the music industry with what is acknowledged as the largest artist recording contract in the industry at that time, the launching of Paisley Park Records, the launching of NPG records, world concert tours, production of television programs, software entertainment, development of retail stores, theatrical productions, producing, marketing and promotion of five Prince albums, including two of which are considered his top selling albums (Diamond and Pearls and The Love Symbol album), and the launching of various music artists on both labels.

In conjunction with his growing responsibilities, Mr. Davison addressed his desire to launch his own entertainment company. In September of 1989, Heaven & Earth Inc. (1989-2008) was developed to produce entertainment venues that would focus on the life concert and nightlife market of the entertainment industry. In October 1990, Heaven & Earth, with Mr. Davison as its President and CEO, launched the largest entertainment facility for nightlife in the Twin Cities, “Glam Slam”, which was also recognized as one of the premiere entertainment venues in the country. This project went on to produce a franchise venue in Yokahama, Japan. Satellite venues were also produced in Los Angeles, California, and Miami, Florida under the corporate structure of Paisley Park. In 1995, the Glam Slam Nightclub, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota was reimagined by Mr. Davison as The Quest Entertainment Venue, which operated successfully until its closing in 2006 due to a fire within the building.

Mr. Davison has utilized his diverse experiences in business and entertainment to create and guide ventures in the development of various platforms and growth opportunities. Currently, Mr. Davison continues to work in the entertainment industry as a Consultant and Artist/Business Manager.
